cosy

We haven't posted in ages, however it's finally holidays so expect an annoying amount of posts! This was a quick and cosy outfit of Tash's that she wore on a rather chilly excursion to an antique fair, then to our 2nd viewing of The Great Gatsby (I still can't get over it). In my opinion, this is a rather perfect go to outfit. Plus I love me an olive sweater!

TOP SHELF

So I usually leave the beauty stuff to Tash, however I feel like I have to share my newest obsession. It is most definitely winter now, and unfortunately that means dry skin. So I headed off in search of new moisturiser. Grown Alchemist is a lovely beauty brand that focuses on using ancient and organic beauty techniques to create incredible products for the face, hair and body. I am having a love affair with their Vanilla & Orange peel hand cream that smells divine. Also the Mandarin and Rosemary Leaf Body Cream is incredibly hydrating but not too heavy. Plus I am always a sucker for the chic, utilitarian packaging. Heaven.

winter staples

At approximately 1:30 this afternoon (after spending the whole morning in bed with coffee and Sex and the City) I realised it was finally time to say Au Revoir my summer clothes, and bring my winter rags out of hibernation. After a couple of false starts, it is finally winter. The hot water bottles are out and Friday nights are in with cosy Peter Alexander pyjamas and the newest issue of Harpers Bazaar. Winter is my favourite season for fashion; lush outwear, knitted sweaters, fluffy socks and hats a-plenty. As I transition my wardrobe, I thought it would be nice to share a few of my key pieces for winter. Hot water bottle, optional.

(clockwise from top left)

1. My Windsor Smith Envy boots never leave my feet, absolute perfection for those of us that can't quite stretch for the Balenciaga's at $1350 a pop.
2. Knitted sweaters kind of speak for themselves, Acne Studios Lia Twist sweater is the cosiest of them all, plus the colours are to die for.
3. I am rarely without a beanie, I always start off the day with one in my bag and it usually works its way on to my head. I love Carhartt beanies in my favourite colour.
4. Grown Vanilla and Orange Peel hand cream is totally necessary for cold weather. Plus it smells divine!
3. Red lipstick is definitely a winter staple of mine. I love a semi-matte pared with bare, pale skin and bold brows. Try NARS in Red Lizard.
4.  Okay, the truth is out. I am a candle hoarder. Currently burning Matalan in Pomegranate and Amber.
5. A fabulous book is a must to curl up with on cold winter nights. This month I'll be re-reading my favourite; The Secret History by Donna Tartt
6. A steaming tall cup of Latte. Enough said.
7. Leather pants are probably my favourite trend this season. Wear them with everything, and I mean everything. I like 'em tight and dark like these Marc by Marc Jacobs.
8. Finally another soft spot of mine. Novelty socks that are perfect for the cut-out boot trend. I'm loving these Lazy Oaf pineapple socks.

Winters coming...

In Australia It's the time of year were we find ourselves scoring winter bargains online and spending Friday nights-in's with wine then partying on till early morning  hours on the beach. Personally I love winter, because for me it gives me a chance to update my beauty products. The cold season does more then change our wardrobe, it effects our skin also. Spending most of your days indoors with the heater blasting and having endless hot showers/baths will leave your skin feeling tight and dry. So here and some of my favorite winter products for making sure your skins stays super smooth and hydrated this winter!

xox Tash

Cetaphil Moisturizer lotion $13.95

Its important to treat the rest of your body the same as you would treat the skin on your face. This is my go-to daily moisturizer  I use it every day after a shower. It very light and is absorb quickly. I use this for my entire body, Legs, Back, Arms, Bum, Stomach and my skin is always silky smooth. Remember if your skin is properly moisturized then the less likely it will age!

Ego QV cleansing bar $5.99

This is a great alliterative to soap. It's PH balanced and doesn't contain any nasty added Fragrances, Colour, Lanolin and Propylene glycol. Its designed for people who suffer from extreme dry skin cases such as eczema so its perfect to give your skin a little ophmf while giving it a good clean!

Swisse Hand Cream with vitamin F + Pomegranate $6.95

No one wants dry crackled hands and split nail beds, so to avoid that happening this winter make sure keep a tube of moisturizer in your handbag. My personally favorite at the moments is Swisse Hand cream. Vitamin F is packed with omega 3 and 6, and pomegranate oils improve skin texture! It has a delicious smell to it also.

Rose-hip Vital Cold pressed rosehip oil $17.95

If you don't know already Rosehip oil extremely rich with essentials fatty acids (Such as omega 3, 6 and 9)  with help with regenerating skin cells and repair damaged skin tissue. Its also contains vitamin A which reduces enzymes (Which is cause by the sun that breakdowns collagen and elastin) So hello youthful skin! Rose-hip vital oil is cold pressed which means its extracted without the use of heat of chemicals. Win! I use it every second night instead of my regular moisturizer. It works a treat.

Soft lips vanilla 20+ $2.95

There is nothing more I hate then cracked, wind burnt lips. I love this products because its cheap, its has a high SPF, comes in an variety of flavours (Including chai yum!) It has the slight tingling burning feeling after you put it on, but leave your lips feeling great for hours on end.

John Plunketts multi-vitamins Moisturizer   $9.95

Perfect under makeup and getting your skin nice and soft. It contains a combinations of vitamin A, B3, B5, C and E to help battle fine wrinkles, reduce brown spots and redness. The texture is thick but is surprising light-weight. Ultra hydrating!

Natio aromatherapy face mask purifier $15.95

I like using this product about 2-3 times a week to give me skin a little bit of a glow. You only need a light layer (make sure to include your neck and leave you delicate eye areas out.) Perfect if you don't have the time or money to head to the spa for weekly facials.

Kora Balancing face mist $39.95

Kora is my mecca when is come to prep-beauty products. There isn't a single product yet that I've tried that hasn't let my skin looking and feeling like I belong in some beauty commercial. I'm obsessed with there blemish gel, it clears my pimples completely in a couple of days (Thank god for Noni-juice. despite that it tastes like liquid Vegemite.)  But my second fav would have to be the balancing mist. Perfect for replacing your toner, cooling down your skin in summer or perking up you dry skin in winter. Hand bag essential always!

Eulactol heel balm  $12.95

I'm on my feet all day, and so they always needed a little TLC and thankfully with Eulactol that get the love they need. I smother it on morning and night with a pair of socks until it adsorb and it transform my feet from crackled and painful to perfectly soft in a week!
